FASHIONISTAS AND RECESSIONISTAS…
I found an interesting article in the New York Daily News describing how New Yorkers are learning to be stylish for less. I thought this was a great article for brides who want to be fashionable and practical while planning their 2009 wedding. Even fashionistas with the most extravagant taste are being more creative in their clothing selections–from vintage finds at consignments to off-price stores offering designer brands for less, to restoring items in the closet. Public swap events where people trade clothing are becoming popular. Chicago’s Painfully Hip hosted one as well–see Painfully Hip’s Major Replacement Clothing Swap. This is a great way to save money throughout the year for your wedding day while being frugal and environmental. Check out Free Cycle for more Eco-conscious daily solutions.
Though the topsy turvy economy can lead one to nail biting, in ways it’s forcing us all to be creative, collaborate locally with small businesses, return to the basics, and consider what’s most important.

LAURA & JAMES
Ceremony & Reception: Architectural Artifacts
Catering and Event Planning: Blue Plate
DJs: Toasts & Jam
Hotel: The James Hotel
Scott and I met up with Laura at the James Hotel for preparation pics before the ceremony while our associate, Ryan documented the groomsmen getting ready. Laura was so laidback while she was getting ready that she started to wonder if she was ‘too relaxed.’ “Should I be more stressed out,” she jokes.
This modern couple’s winter wedding was held at Architectural Artifacts–an amazing museum and showroom that contains historical antiques and pieces. It was our first time shooting in this space and we were absolutely awestricken by the dramatic interior and design.
Here are a couple of pics outside the Architectural Artifacts–more to come…
Congratulations again Laura & James!
Happy Holidays!
