A wedding story begins to unfold before the couple sees each other on wedding day. Clinking glasses between bridesmaids to a bride getting into her gown or a candid photos of a groom-to-be and his father-in-law; there are great scripted and unscripted moments during wedding preparation that truly illustrate a couple’s wedding day. Here are a few tips to getting great preparation photos.
1.) Have a “curated” element for your squad:
- Rompers, Robes, Flannel Shirts, Monogrammed Shirts, Matching Socks (Groomsmen), etc.
- Accents:
- Bridesmaid glasses for a toast
- Poppers (only if you have a clean up plan : )
- Gifts (if applicable); any customized elements like Welcome Bags, Groomsmen Gifts, Bridesmaid Gifts, Notes for Bride/Groom, etc.
2.) Details, Details, details: We love photographing your details. We know you’ll be busy with wedding prep when we arrive so in order to not disrupt, it is helpful if the following are gathered together. Then we will take them and arrange them for photos.
- Shoes
- Jewelry
- Watch Bow Tie
- Wedding Rings
- Invitations/Paper
- Extra blooms from bouquet (if available)
- Wedding Dress Hanger (if applicable)
- Special Perfume/ Cologne Decorative Bottle (if applicable)
- Sentimental Elements (something blue, something borrowed…)
3.) Make Time: Allow Time for Photos with your Squad
- Want photos in your robes? Make sure you have time scheduled between styling for each attendant and allow for some wiggle room.
- Want your matron of honor photographed with you as you get into your dress? Make sure that her appointment time is early enough to allow her to be present.
- Want a photo a first look photo with parents? Make sure they both know when and where this is happening.
